Winter Is Coming

Winter is coming.

That’s right, I said those dreaded words for those that live in Ohio. However, not everyone has this opinion. You most likely either a.) resume the fetal position every time someone dares to echo the word “winter”, b.) You love the winter because snow days, the holidays, -or maybe you just don’t appreciate the humidity that is showered out in the summer and spring months. Or Finally, c.) you don’t really care and you’re just here for the ride – you have come to accept the bipolar beast that is Ohio weather.

So how is this winter going to be? Well, that’s difficult to tell as the old and “new” farmers’ almanacs have differing predictions. The Old Farmer’s Almanac is said to be 80% accurate and details a milder and less severe winter. The Old Farmer’s Almanac that first originated in 1792 predicts temperatures to be above average, whilst snowfall falls below average (pun intended).

For those looking for beautiful winter mornings with school closings listed at the bottom of the screen on your local news, The Farmers’ Almanac is for you. The new Farmers’ Almanac predicts the real bitter cold to arrive in mid-February, most prominent in the Northeast, Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, Midwest, and Southeast. The almanac is predicting a great boost in snowfall for the Great Lakes States, Midwest, and New England.

Either way, this winter will drop the accuracy of either almanac. Just hope that it comes out in your favor, as our cold temperatures and snowy forecasts resume.

  1. I’ve been hoping for a snowier winter, so this is sort of uplifting! I wonder how accurate the new Farmer’s Almanac is, though? At this rate, a milder winter seems very likely. Also, I like the little Game of Thrones reference (winter is coming), even if it was an accident.

  2. I love option a) of resuming the fetal position, it made me laugh so hard when I read it! I love your posts! Please don’t ever stop this hilarity in your blogs, even if it is unintentional. It made my day!
